Assessment: Basis for Making Instructional Decisions ( by Ms. Pedrita R. Jordan)

As a teacher, it is our great task to achieve an outstanding performance in the classroom instructions. In such a way, assessment must be given more emphasis to keep on monitoring and could be the basis to improve classroom instructions.
Upon knowing everything about the principles of high quality assessment, I can say to myself that I must start to improve my way of assessing my pupils which sometimes I failed to give value on giving formative test as I go along the learning process. The reason is, I’m in a hurry to cope up the number of days in a rating period which is oftentimes affected to some extra ordinary activities. There were times also, that said test was conducted but even the result is fair, still I was hesitant to exert effort to find ways and means to improve my teaching style due to lack of patience especially if the higher section already mastered the said skills. One thing also is that, I failed to conduct some remedial measures which are the best way to patch up learning gaps due to my personal reasons of doing my paper works in my graduate studies. Considering all of these negligence of mind, it’s a high time for me to start a change to apply what I have learned and I will faithfully perform my duty and responsibility with dedication and commitment equal to the salary I received and keep the most for the welfare of the school children which give me work. I should start to initiate change and by then progress will happened along the way which could contribute good things to the whole system moreover it could make me a fruitful servant to all.
